Stacks bar and grill valparaiso indiana12/26/2023 It is the perfect and inexpensive way to end an afternoon, and one of my favorite things to do in Valparaiso.Ĭounty Line Orchard is located at 200 S County Line Road in Hobart, Indiana, Dinner and Nightlife at Aftermath Cidery & Winery and Stacks Bar & Grill I’ve been going there ever since I was little, and it reminds me of my family and my friends from home. In the early fall, the crisp air reminds me of eating outside in Florida after the sun goes down and the night air is a perfect 70 degrees. I love to sit outside on their patio and watch all the traffic go by that’s heading downtown. If you want somewhere that is going to leave you full and satisfied, which who doesn’t, it’s a perfect spot for lunch. Located in downtown Valparaiso, La Cabaña is an authentic Mexican restaurant with a diverse menu, delicious and fresh food, and the BEST margaritas you’ll taste. My favorite is La Cabaña Mexican Restaurant. Valparaiso is lucky because we have almost too many to count! Lunch at La Cabaña Mexican RestaurantĮvery great town has an even greater local Mexican restaurant. The white gazebo at the front of the garden is a sight well-known to Valparaiso natives and is the perfect spot to enjoy the changing fall leaves. Its Japanese garden, trails and bridges, and large array of flowers make it a popular spot for engagements and wedding ceremonies. It is a botanical garden located near downtown Valparaiso. Best Things to do in Valparaiso IndianaĪnother beautiful park is Ogden Gardens. From great downtown dining and breweries, to parks, orchards, and gardens… this itinerary is what I recommend for a fall day in Northwest Indiana.ĭo you love road trips, too? Check out this list of road trip essentials. There are things in Valparaiso I crave when I return. It’s a great day trip from the Windy City. Meaning “The Vale of Paradise,” it is the home of Valparaiso University and Orville Redenbacher’s popcorn kingdom, neighbor to the towns on the shores of Lake Michigan, and located a short drive from the great city of Chicago. It’s one of my favorite things, especially in the fall. While I love long drives, I have to say the short trip from my college in West Lafayette to my hometown in northern Indiana makes me giddy. My family started making the 20-hour drive to Florida every year when we were super little, and I’ve craved being in the car ever since. A fan of Stacks Restaurant and would definitely return if I come back to Valparaiso. This piece is part of a series of articles submitted to The Local Tourist through a cooperation with a 400-level travel writing class at Purdue University. All of us at the table tried two drinks each and all were very satisfied. Prices were very reasonable, at least compared to big cities. Overall though it was a pretty good dish. The risotto was good and the asparagus could have been cooked a tiny bit less. The fish was a bit over cooked we but generally ok. For my entree, I had the special: Mahi Mahi served with risotto and asparagus. Only problem was it hardened a bit too quick, maybe because it was on such a thin pan. The dip came out in a flat skillet and was very good. Also had the spinach and artichoke dip served with multi colored tortilla chips. These were very small (a negative) but very yummy Tater tots that were nice and crispy and served with a whole grain mustard or spicy ketchup. Started with Sweet Potato Tater Tots- the sweet potato tots. Service was very good, including nice cooperation in splitting the checks in a couple of ways for our convenience - offered without our even as,ong. We did however sit outside in the nice patio area. Very cool interior with a Library theme with lots of books on bookshelves built into the walls.
